Q: Can I get a manual for free?
A: It would be great if everything in the world was free, and I
wish I didn't have to pay a mortgage or gasoline for my automobile.
But alas, the world is not perfect and no, my manuals are not free. I purchased them for a lot of
money, and did so as I felt that a substantial library like this would be
valuable resource to the DIY community to keep older antique or obsolete
gear running. True, there are places on the internet where you can
find some manuals for free, and if you want to search for for them, you
certainly can. Those sites usually harvests manuals from other sites,
rely on visitors to "upload" manuals to them, often promising (but not
keeping their end of the bargain) to permit you to download another manual
in exchange, or rely on advertising or email/contact info harvesting for
revenue. I rely on none of that. I sustain this website and
service purely by relying on the very small revenue stream to keep this site
and resource available to you.
Q: Why is
only available for some items?
A: The truth is that with tens of thousands of manuals, we found
that coding all these buy it now buttons takes up too much time so we do not
update the list regularly. We feel that our time is better spent in
other chores such as paper to digital conversion, a more convenient format
which most customers seem to prefer. Many manuals have already been
added and can be found in our online catalog. To find out if a product
is in ready-to-purchase condition, please visit our
online-store and search
for it as it's possible it's already there. If you can't find it
there, then please send an email inquiry for
any manual that you either do not see, or where there is no
button.
Q: Are all of the manuals listed currently available?
A: Over 97% of the manuals in our archives list is currently
available. The missing 3% is due to our online list not having been
updated when some items were sold, or some were misplaced or lost. To
some customers who requests only the hard-to-find stuff, it may seem like
more than 3% is unavailable, but we assure you that it only seems like that.
Unfortunately, the high demand items are handled more and consequently, more
easier to be sold or misplaced.
Q: I visited the
online-store and found
mostly PDF versions available. I would like to purchase a paper
manual but don't see that format being offered. A: Initially, we had both paper and PDF versions of manuals
available in the online catalog, but since the availability of paper manuals
are finite and requires constant updating of inventory to reflect changes of
availability, and also because we receive very few orders for paper
products, we no longer add paper products to our online catalog.in order to
save valuable labor which is better spent elsewhere. The PDF versions
can be purchased immediately and are what 95% of our customers request
anyhow. For those that requires paper manuals, we still offer them but
now handle those transactions via email and invoicing through PayPal.
Please understand that our primary focus is to service customers needing
service information to effect a repair. We still sell to collectors
but as supplies of factory paper manuals are now beginning to dwindle,
especially for high demand or hard to find models, the pricing of those will
reflect accordingly and we generally will only offer paper manuals that we
have duplicates of.
